Update at 6:30 p.m.| The Ezell’s Express food truck plucked from a Kent storage facility over the weekend was found in Seattle Tuesday evening.

The truck was abandoned under the Spokane Street Bridge, owner Jennifer Stephens said. Many items were missing, and the exterior was vandalized.

“They tore it up pretty bad,” she said.

Stephens said Ezell’s will need to assess the damage, but hope to have the truck back in business within the next few weeks.

The Ezell’s Express truck, which serves Ezell’s Famous Chicken, was in service Friday, and then was parked at a Kent public storage facility, owner Jennifer Stephens said. When they came to get it Tuesday morning, it was gone.

“It was locked behind a gate, so I’m not sure how it could have happened,” Stephens said Tuesday afternoon. “I’m still in shock.”

Stephens said she wasn’t sure why someone would want to steal the vehicle, which is one of two in Ezell’s Express food truck flock. “Ezell’s” is plastered all over the truck, so the thief likely couldn’t dispute the ownership.

“I guess if you’re just driving no one will think about it,” she said.

The owners had to cancel their events Tuesday, and will have to cancel an additional five to seven events scheduled for this week if the truck isn’t found. They filed a police report, and ask that anyone who sees it call the police. The stolen truck has a fan mounted to front roof, while the other truck has a fan at the back.

The truck’s equipment, which includes top-of-the-line fryers and refrigerators, is worth at least $100,000, according to Stephens.

However, there was no fried chicken in the truck. That’s priceless.
