The Kid dons 1980s Mariners garb and catches a Pike Place Market fish in the Seattle rapper's new music video shot in Spokane and Seattle.

Fans of Seattle rapper Macklemore know he considers Mariners legend Ken Griffey Jr. one of his sports heroes — see his 2010 song “My Oh My” — so it’s no huge surprise that The Kid makes a cameo in a music video released Thursday for Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ new single, “Downtown.”

Griffey, 45, appears at the 1:43 mark wearing a similar get-up to the Mariners uniform in his famous 1989 Upper Deck rookie baseball card — complete with yellow “S” hat and gold-chain necklaces. In the shot, Griffey smiles at the camera before catching a fish at Pike Place Market.

However, the “Downtown” video was mostly shot in downtown Spokane. As the city’s Spokesman-Review newspaper reported, most of the filming happened in July.

Junior makes a second two-second cameo at the 4:01 mark riding some sort of motorbike and grinning at the camera. In both his appearances, Griffey’s hair (or wig?) is styled like it was in the late 1980s, the time period in which the music video seems to take place.
