University of Puget Sound President Ron Thomas will leave his post at the Tacoma liberal-arts college after the 2015-16 school year, the university announced Monday.

In a statement, the college credited Thomas, who became president in 2003, with spearheading a decadelong strategic plan that “facilitated cohesiveness of the campus and facilitated tremendous growth in the sciences” along with a fundraising campaign that brought in $127 million — most successful fundraising campaign in the university’s history.

The university will begin a search for his replacement this summer.
